An hour and a half away from Baguio City, a favorite summer destination in the Philippines, is Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet. During the 1950s, Ambuklao Dam was deemed the tallest and biggest dam in the Far East. These days, the dam and its surrounding areas have become a big thrill for adventurers, offering activities like karting and ATV riding. I was eager to drive the go-kart because, unlike most tracks set up on cemented and flattened road surfaces, this track is on a rough road trail right beside the riverbed. It was a rush to hit the gas and speed over rocky surfaces amid towering mountains while clutching the steering wheel, trying to maneuver away from the edge of the road trail. Another vehicle you can get behind the wheel of is the ATV or allterrain vehicle. It’s designed to handle different kinds of roads, whether it’s the muddy trail lined with pine trees or a Rocky River bed.
