Subic

Subic Bay

Subic Bay is a short break destination ideal for the family. It has four public beaches inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, about three hours from Manila. The beaches have picnic huts, lounge chairs, shower facilities, life vests and jet skis for rent. You can also take the kids to Subic’s Camayan Wharf for an up close encounter with bottlenose dolphins, false killer whales, and sea lions and rescued forest animals at Ocean Adventure, an open-water marine park. Kids eight years and older can swim with whales or with dolphins accompanied by a licensed trainer. Swimming skills is not a prerequisite since kids and adults alike are asked to wear a life vest. Or for a more sedate encounter, meet the mammals in shallow water where you can touch, hug and feed them.

These interactions don’t come cheap. The 45-minute dolphin swim will set you back P3,750, while the 30-minute beach frolic costs P2,500. For more information on resorts and accommodation, call: the Subic Bay Office at: 047/252900, the Manila office at: 02/7063344 to 46 or e-mail: info@oceanadventure.com.ph.
